  1. Foods and Beverages

#14.) Feminized Seeds

#15. Extraction Process

Extraction is a manufacturing process a company uses to pull CBD from a Hemp Plant.

There are 2 methods companies use:

  1. Whole Plant Extraction (also called CO2 Extraction)

  2. Ethanol Extraction

Whole Plant Extraction uses pressurized carbon dioxide to pull-out the desired amount of Cannabinoids and Terpenes from the Hemp Plant. It is often an amber color in oil form.

Ethanol Extraction is used by Pharmaceutical Companies for its ability to create extremely clean and pure products. The process involves soaking Raw Hemp in ethanol to extract Cannabinoids. Once the Hemp has finished soaking, the ethanol used to purify the plant is 100% purged so it will not be present in the final product.

Which is better? Because Ethanol Extraction creates a product with 99% purity, it makes sense to use the same method Pharmaceutical Companies use to create high-quality medications. The main problem with Whole Plant CO2 Extraction is it involves high temperatures which destroys so much of the plant that Terpenes must be re-added at the end. Ethanol Extraction involves low-heat and cold manufacturing conditions so the Cannabinoids are preserved throughout the Extraction Process.

#16. Endocannabinoid System (ECS)

The biological systems of humans and canines contain a system called the Endocannabinoid System. Often referred to as the ECS, this bodily system is composed of Cannabinoid Receptor 1 (CB1) and Cannabinoid Receptor (2). Both of these receptors uniquely activate in the presence of CBD, bringing balance to mind and body and maintaining homeostasis through the body’s many systems.

#17. Tincture

A Tincture contains concentrated CBD Oil in a glass bottle. These products featured a dropper which you use to place Hemp-infused drops directly under your tongue. Tinctures are additionally infused with a carrier oil such as Olive Oil, Coconut Oil or Hemp Oil to help the body absorb CBD into the bloodstream. CBD’s low bioavailability makes it difficult for the body to absorb, Tinctures resolve that problem.
